It’s back to school time of the year: new shoes, yellow school buses, new opportunities!
A few years ago my son said that he loved back to school time because it was a chance to start all over with a new teacher. He was excited because a new teacher wouldn’t have any expectations of him and he could be a new person. He had finished the year before struggling with his teacher due to his distracting behavior. He recognized that the teacher would anticipate this behavior, identify him as a behavior problem and he would feel the implications of this label. He got caught in the cycle of problem behavior and didn’t find a way out. When someone expects us to behave a certain way we often fulfill their belief in us. Sometimes that’s how it feels to a 9 year old! He realized that a new teacher was a chance to be the kind of student he wanted to be, it was a chance to start over.
I am so grateful for the tools that I have learned that have helped me to change aspects of my life and to become aware of the patterns of resistance and then take the steps to creating a better life! I also love to learn. Even when I finished school, I was always reading books on new topics from nutrition, to child care, homeschooling, alternative therapies, astrology and numerology as well as any number of self help books about relationship, healing and spirituality.
If you are like me and love to learn or want to “start over” and enjoy new tools for living then check out the upcoming workshops and classes that we have organized. We are never too old to go back to school!
